Meet Douglas

I was born and raised in Peru, and more than 20 years ago I came to the United States looking for opportunities and a better future.

When I arrived, one of my biggest challenges was English. I knew that if I wanted to grow in this country, I needed to learn the language. So I did. It was not easy, but I learned something early in my journey. You have to adapt, work hard, and keep moving forward.

My first job was cleaning offices. It was honest work, and I am proud of it because that was part of my beginning in this country.

After learning English, I started working in the hospitality industry as a server. I kept learning, taking opportunities, and growing. Over the years, I worked my way from serving tables to becoming a regional director. That experience taught me a lot about people, leadership, business, and what happens when someone gives you an opportunity and you are willing to work for it.

Eventually, my journey took me to something that became a passion of mine. I funded a company where we support children with neurodivergent conditions and their families. For me, this work became more than a business. It gave me another way to serve people and make an impact.

A lot of who I am comes from my family, especially my dad. I grew up with strong family values. My father was very involved in the Hispanic community, and watching him taught me something I still carry with me today. When you have an opportunity to move forward, you also have a responsibility to give back.

That lesson has followed me throughout my life.

California became my home, especially Contra Costa County. This is where I built my career, raised my family, developed businesses, and became involved in the community.

I am proud of what I have accomplished, but I am also proud of where I started. From cleaning offices to serving tables, to leading teams, building businesses, helping families, and serving my community, every part of the journey has shaped who I am.

I am still proud of my Peruvian roots. I am proud of my family. And I am grateful for the opportunities this country has given me.

My story is still being written, and for me, success is not only about how far you go. It is also about remembering where you came from, taking care of your family, and finding a way to give back.
